ALL IN GOOD TIME · MEMPHIS

Back to Stax. A new generation of Soul.

For “Do Re Mi,” Memphis-born Cheri Moon brought together the Stax Music Academy Choir, hip-hop pioneer Kwamé and fellow featured artist Pierce Freelon. A familiar children's melody became a meeting point for Soul, hip-hop and the voices of a new generation.

The STAX marquee celebrating the project captures the scale of this homecoming. The collaboration is both a return to Cheri's musical roots and an invitation for young musicians to help carry that legacy forward.

Interview angle: What did it mean to return to Memphis and work with the Stax Music Academy Choir? How did Kwamé help reimagine “Do Re Mi”?

ALL IN GOOD TIME · KENYA

“Limitless.” A song carried to a village in Kenya.

Filmed on location in Kenya with featured artists Jabali Afrika, the “Limitless” music video grew out of a visit to the village of Nasipa involving SNOOKNUK, Mr. Eco, fellow artists and the GivePower team.

According to the video's production account, the mission supported access to solar-powered electricity, clean drinking water and a technology lab. The community and children of Nasipa are featured in the music video, bringing the song's message of possibility into a real-world setting.

Produced by two-time GRAMMY winner Lucy Kalantari, “Limitless” is an orchestral ballad featuring Jabali Afrika and an introduction by actor Leon Herbert.

Interview angle: How did the visit to Nasipa change the meaning of “Limitless” for Cheri, and what happened when the children connected with the song?

THE STORY BEHIND THE ARTIST

From Memphis Soul to music for every generation.

Born in Memphis, Cheri Moon began singing Gospel as a child before building a songwriting and performance career in New York. Her path led through commercial music, international Dance charts and collaborations with celebrated producers. Motherhood inspired a new chapter: SNOOKNUK, a musical world designed to bring children and grown-ups together.

From SNOOKNUK Café in Los Angeles to the GRAMMY-nominated All One Tribe collective and her latest album All In Good Time, Cheri has followed a singular idea: music can be joyful, sophisticated and meaningful at any age.

FROM MEMPHIS TO THE WORLD

A songwriter with a remarkable musical pedigree.

Before creating SNOOKNUK, Cheri Moon built a professional career across Gospel, New York performance, Pop, Soul and Dance. Her earlier press kit documents a publishing agreement with producers Timbaland and Jimmy Douglass, three co-written songs on Róisín Murphy’s Overpowered, co-writing Kevin Rudolf’s “Great Escape,” and work with Danny O’Donoghue of The Script.

Her UK club releases included “House Arrest” (#1 DMC World Chart), “Ships in the Night” (#4 Music Week Club Chart) and “One More Crazy Summer” (#2 Music Week Club Chart). Her voice-over and licensing work also crossed television and national advertising. These historic credits are drawn from Cheri’s previous press materials.

SNOOKNUK PERFORMING ARTS CAFÉ · 2014–2020

An auspicious first member.

When Cheri opened SNOOKNUK Performing Arts Café in Los Angeles in 2014, its first member was filmmaker Timothy J. Disney, who joined with his daughter, Ciaran. Cheri remembers the Disney family connection as a particularly auspicious beginning for a venture devoted to music, creativity and children.

Over six years the café became a place where parents and children shared creative experiences. Its guests included prominent entertainment families, and in 2016 it became the setting for a widely reported Destiny’s Child reunion.

The first-membership detail is Cheri’s personal recollection; it does not imply endorsement by the Disney family or Disney companies.

A REMARKABLE HOLLYWOOD STORY

The day Destiny’s Child reunited at SNOOKNUK Café.

In November 2016, Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams reunited at SNOOKNUK Café in Los Angeles for the second birthday celebration of Rowland’s son. Their playful Mannequin Challenge became an entertainment-news story — and placed Cheri’s family-focused creative space in the national spotlight.

The café also welcomed entertainment-industry parents with their children. Cheri recalls Alicia Keys joining one of her music classes with her son. These are stories about creativity, community and the universal joy of sharing music with children — not celebrity endorsements.
